Fall saveONenergy PLEDGE campaign launches with new incentive
Participants rewarded with 100 bonus AIR MILES® for having old fridge or freezer picked up

Ajax, ON – The second phase of the saveONenergy PLEDGE campaign has launched, highlighting conservation actions that may help Veridian customers who take the pledge save energy, save money, and reduce greenhouse gases in the fall and winter months. Customers who pledged during the summer campaign are eligible to pledge again and earn 15 AIR MILES® reward miles.

The saveONenergy PLEDGE campaign is designed to encourage customers to learn more about the province-wide saveONenergy suite of programs available for home and business. The campaign also provides a platform for customers to learn about and commit to taking simple but meaningful conservation actions to help manage their electricity consumption. The saveONenergy PLEDGE is available at www.mysaveonenergypledge.ca/veridian.

A new component to the fall pledge is the offering of an additional 100 bonus AIR MILES® reward miles to customers who agree to have their old, inefficient fridge or freezer picked up for free. Other fall saveONenergy PLEDGE actions include: using one or more of the saveONenergy coupons; reducing electricity use during high-demand periods; replacing an old, inefficient furnace with a high-efficiency unit; and enrolling in the small business lighting initiative.

The fall pledge campaign runs from October 11 to December 31, 2011. In addition to the 15 AIR MILES® reward miles and 100 bonus AIR MILES®, participants can pledge five AIR MILES® reward miles to one of WWF-Canada, Kid Help Phone or Special Olympics. For those who pledge but do not collect AIR MILES®, a 'fund' of 200,000 reward miles will be allocated to the three participating charities at the end of the campaign in proportion to the 'votes' each receives from non-collectors.

To further help customers in their efforts to manage electricity costs, Veridian's Conservation Ambassadors are making community appearances in local retail stores during the month of October. The Conservation Ambassadors are offering information on the saveONenergy initiative, helping customers ready their homes for the fall and winter months, and distributing valuable coupon booklets for discounts on select energy saving products.
