Veridian is proud to be a leader in the deployment of smart meters in the Province of Ontario. Installations began on a pilot basis in the community of Sunderland late in 2005. Since then, we’ve installed more than 70,000 smart meters and are currently focussing our efforts in the communities of Ajax and Pickering. Every home and business in Ontario will have a smart meter by the year 2010.
Veridian customers will receive a post card in the mail providing advance notice of their smart meter installation. Then, when the meter is installed, a detailed smart meter answer book will be provided to explain how the meter works and what can be done to take advantage of this new technology.

Tour the Smart Meter House
You might also want to take a tour of 10 Smart Meter Lane to see how you can better manage your electricity costs when
Time-of-Use (TOU) pricing* comes into effect. This interactive tool shows how running appliances at different times of the day or week can impact your
electricity bill.
*Notes
- The Ontario Energy Board has established TOU periods and prices but has not confirmed when these rates will be implemented. Veridian will notify customers when this changes and TOU pricing comes into effect.
- The price and electricity consumption figures shown at 10 Smart Meter Lane are illustrative only and are based on many broad generalizations.
