PowerWISE® Business Incentive Program
VERIDIAN CONNECTIONS
and the powerWISE® group are assisting large institutional,
commercial and industrial customers to conserve energy and
shift their loads from periods of peak demand to lower cost
times of the day.
The objective of the powerWISE® Business Incentive Program is
to initiate energy conservation and load management projects
within the commercial, industrial and institutional sectors by
offering a variety of rebates and incentives.
Maintaining a reliable supply of electricity is a priority. By
reducing peak demand participating businesses will contribute
to the increased security of the overall supply.
Incentives are now available to assist VERIDIAN CONNECTIONS'
large institutional, commercial and industrial customers in the
implementation of conservation and demand management projects
that will impact their bottom lines.
This is a limited time offer and applications are accepted
on a first come, first served basis.
- The program will end on September 20, 2006 or sooner.
- Projects must be completed by September 30, 2006.
- Funding is limited and VERIDIAN
CONNECTIONS reserves the right to curtail or
cancel the program at any time.
VERIDIAN CONNECTIONS
will provide qualifying institutional, commercial and
industrial customers with incentives to implement
electrical-demand management measures.
Applicants must be VERIDIAN
CONNECTIONS customers with an electricity demand of
50kW or more and annual average monthly peak loads between 7am
and 11pm.
Applicants may be owners or tenants of business premises
supplied by VERIDIAN CONNECTIONS.
Please note that if you are a tenant, you must obtain
permission from the property owner for installation of the
measures for which an incentive is claimed.
Incentives will be available for pre-approved projects that
result in measurable reductions in electrical peak demand.
These projects may be completed using energy efficient leading
edge technologies specified by
VERIDIAN CONNECTIONS or may be based on innovative
custom initiatives.
The powerWISE® Business Incentive Program (PBIP) is made up
of two incentive options. Rebates and incentives will be
provided to end-users for energy efficient retrofits or
replacements using prescriptive or custom projects.
Prescriptive Projects
- Rebates are offered for pre-approved technologies on a
per unit or performance basis. For additional information
about qualifying Prescriptive Projects
- A $250/kW incentive is available for prescriptive
projects (pre-approved technologies)
- T8 lighting and ENERGY STAR® LED exit signs
- Unitary A/C units (up to 20 tons) that are ENERGY STAR®
compliant
- Three-phase premium efficiency motors
Custom Projects
-
All technology, equipment
and systems are evaluated on the basis of their energy
performance improvement. The incentive offered is based
specifically on the level of improvement. For additional
information about qualifying Custom Projects
-
A $150/kW incentive is
available for custom projects
-
The custom program is used
where all technology, equipment and systems are evaluated on
the basis of their energy performance improvement and an
incentive is offered based specifically on the level of energy
improvement

Why is VERIDIAN CONNECTIONS
providing an incentive to these customers?
This program is part of our obligation made to the Ontario
Energy Board (OEB). This program will be a catalyst to move
forward commercial, industrial and institutional (CI&I)
projects that have been stalled for various reasons. Utility
incentives bring new attention to projects and often assist in
getting the commitment to proceed from customers.
Why are these particular technologies being recommended?
They are technologies available in the market place and provide
the greatest economic value to the customer. This economic
value is increased even further when the incentives are
applied.
Can I hire my own consultant to validate my proposal?
We encourage customers to consult with or obtain assistance
from industry professionals to ensure that their design,
proposals and installations best meet their needs.
VERIDIAN CONNECTIONS will engage a consultant of its
choice to review any applications or evaluate any completed
projects as appropriate.
What if I don’t realize any savings after investing all this
money?
The qualifying technologies are tried and true with known
performance parameters. There are many variables that could
affect their performance and we suggest that you discuss these
with your designers and installers.
What if I want to do another project to implement more
initiatives later?
This program is being introduced as a pilot. As a result we are
allowing only one project per applicant at this time.
Can I also apply for the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan)
funding through the Commercial Building Incentive Program (CBIP)
or the Industrial Building Incentive Program (IBIP)?
Yes, we encourage customers to take advantage of all funding
available, please consult with NRCan for details. Please also
note that all funding will be considered in determining the
amount of the VERIDIAN CONNECTIONS
incentive.
The project that I wish to undertake uses a simple
straightforward technology. Can it be included under the
prescriptive program?
The prescriptive program is limited at this time to a fixed
number of technologies. Until we get more experience with the
program we will not be changing the qualifying technologies.
