Service Request

VERIDIAN'S electricity distribution system can supply power for the smallest businesses up to the largest, most complex sites requiring many tens of megawatts (MW) of electrical power.

Early notice of a customer's requirements is essential to timely connection and service start. In some cases there may be a lead time of four to six months to acquire the electrical equipment required for a new service.

Click here for a step-by-step summary of the process.

Many municipalities request VERIDIAN'S comments during the early stages of their approval process – whether of a Site Plan Application or other matter. It is nevertheless the responsibility of our prospective customers to contact us early in the planning process, to ensure adequate lead times for design, approvals, material purchases, and construction. We cannot proceed with making service commitments on the basis of notice from a municipality.

To initiate a service connection or upgrade, our staff will require detailed engineering drawings of the building site and electrical system (in both digital and paper versions). A completed Power Customer Data Form (PCDF) will also be required.

Power Customer Data Form

With this information, we will usually be able to conduct a detailed review of the proposed new service, and provide an 'Offer to Service' (including a firm price quotation) within two to four weeks. In some cases, however, there may be a need for considerable planning and engineering which may take more time. In any event we will respond with an 'Offer to Service' no later than 60 days after receiving the PCDF.

The 'Offer to Service' will detail all work to be completed by each party, including costs, responsibilities, and information required to establish an electricity service account with VERIDIAN. Once a signed copy of the 'Offer to Service' is returned along with any required payments, our staff will proceed with a fast-tracked supply and installation project.

We emphasize, however, that due to the variety of circumstances encountered from service to service, VERIDIAN cannot stock a transformer for every potential application. The Service Connection or Upgrade schedule must include a minimum of 10 to12 weeks for transformer delivery.

Many new sites will require temporary power for construction activities, in advance of the permanent new service. Please contact our Customer Services Department for information and advice on temporary construction power.

Much of VERIDIAN'S service connection work can be completed in advance of the final electrical work within the building. However, energizing the new service cannot be done until a Connection Authorization Order is received from the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA).
